NEW! Wakoucha Japanese Black Tea (Organic)
New to the collection!
This is a cultivar blend of both Yanukita and Shizu-7132 made by Taruwaki—San a second generation tea maker who has been organic farming —pesticide free —since 1990.
Wakoucha is best when produced in summer which makes tea plants vulnerable to pests—so the fact that he’s able to produce this exceptional tea without pesticides is an incredible challenge, and in part why this tea limited edition and quite special.
The high elevation of his garden, the crystal waters from the Ooi River and the intense temperature swings (hot/cold) contribute to the unusual flavor profile of this outstanding tea.
A rare, delicate, fully oxidized elegant black tea known for its mild, low tannin profile. Less astringent and bitter – and less robust than traditional black teas. This lot had surprising dIstinct muscatel notes with light sweet, floral, honey notes.
We absolutely love it!
